Mark D. Thompson

Mark has been involved in energy and commodity markets for over twenty-two years, focusing on asset development, valuation and optimization, innovative deal structuring and cost reduction through a disciplined approach for quantifying, embracing and managing risk. Mark leads Seguro’s efforts in Mexico, having consulted with CFE Generation since 2014. Mark has assisted the national utility with development of generation dispatch strategies and procedures in the newly liberalized markets; fuel nomination and supply structures across conventional natural gas, LNG, coal, and fuel oil; strategic fuel supply; CAPEX investment analysis and advisory services; and transaction brokerage. Prior to his focus on Mexico, Mark spent over 16 years in both electricity and natural gas markets in the US, including managing LNG activities at BG Energy (Houston) and all power operations at Wayzata Capital Partners, a leading energy-focused private equity fund with power assets in Texas, the Southwest, and other market areas. Mark has a Bachelors in Economics and Finance from Creighton University.
